Lynn Ullman has used a simple, evocative message of hope to illustrate that Joplin will, one day, restore its beauty and peace. The line – “somewhere over the rainbow” – comes from the classic film The Wizard of Oz, which features a tornado in the opening scene. Lynn has used a bluebird – the state bird of Missouri – to represent and encourage an uplifting sense of strength and dignity within Joplin.
